Kansas State University | Office Park Phase III

The FBI sought a solution to modernize and streamline the Kansas City FBI division and its facilities to support a more efficient operation for the FBI’s increasing mission demand. The GSA conducted a lease procurement, resulting in US Federal Properties (USFP) being given the 20-year lease for the new facility. As the architect, Hoefer Welker was tasked with designing a new, modern, functional headquarters. The new 137,000-square-foot facility is designed to allow the FBI to expand in place over the life of the building through the use of adaptable infrastructure and flexible workspaces. In addition to the primary office building, the site will also feature elements that will provide in-depth security and needed storage for various programs within the division.
The design of the new FBI Kansas City headquarters is not only highly efficient but also prioritizes security, comfort and convenience for employees. The lobby features high-end finishes to create an impressive, elegant impression for staff and visitors. Additionally, it will include security measures that ensures seamless operations without compromising safety.
The main office building features multiple floors with open floor plans conducive to employee collaboration and teamwork. The strategic use of specialized glass allows natural light to flood the space, limiting solar heat gain while creating an inviting atmosphere for all users. The finishes used are contemporary; rich wood tones, sleek metal surfaces and neutral stone give a modern aesthetic further enhanced by vibrant color accents.
The headquarters also offers abundant user amenities, such as flexible facility spaces, a courtyard, sports courts, and covered employee parking. The space accommodates employees’ connection to the outdoors in a manner that promotes health and wellness while maintaining security.
