Kansas City, Mo. — AIA Kansas City has chosen Hoefer Welker to receive the Firm Award as part of its 2021 Board Awards.
The AIA Kansas City Firm Award recognizes one firm each year “that has shown exceptional leadership and has made significant contributions to the profession and built environment.”
The company has experienced significant growth during its 25th anniversary year, including a name change, the launch of an in-house MEP service line and the opening of a new office in Jacksonville, Florida. The firm also received several workplace recognitions, including being named one of The Kansas City Business Journal’s 2021 Best Places to Work, Ingram’s 2021 Best Companies to Work For and an Outstanding Emerging Professional Friendly Firm by AIA Central States Region. Hoefer Welker also received project awards in architectural design from DBIA-MAR, Healthcare Design, AIA Dallas, IIDA and Engineering News-Record.
Hoefer Welker’s involvement in building professional development within the AEC industry has been extensive. Among its other award-winning attributes, the firm offers an Emerging Professionals program (known as HW University) to help interns, new graduates, and emerging professionals navigate their new roles within the firm. Hoefer Welker has also led the design of some of Kansas City’s most influential projects, including Aspiria (formerly known as the Sprint Campus), 46 Penn Centre, Midwest Transplant Network and St. Luke’s Multispeciality Clinic. Currently, Hoefer Welker’s projects span 30 states.
Each of these contributions — as well as Hoefer Welker’s significant and ever-growing architectural footprint in and outside of Kansas City — were factors in its selection as AIA KC’s Firm Award.
“We’re so honored to receive this incredible award from AIA Kansas City, an organization that is a trusted and essential partner in our industry,” said Hoefer Welker’s founder and CEO Mitch Hoefer. “Our involvement with AIA Kansas City and the AEC industry as a whole demonstrates our commitment to the profession of architecture and our community. Such achievements wouldn’t be possible without Hoefer Welker’s talented and dedicated team as a driving force behind our success.”
