AdventHealth Shawnee Mission opens $76M cancer institute

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is unveiling its new $76.5 million cancer institute, consolidating all cancer services into a single building and significantly expanding its cancer center offerings. Hoefer Welker led the architectural design, emphasizing a holistic approach to care and healing. The institute aims to streamline the patient experience by centralizing AdventHealth's comprehensive cancer services. The 71,000-square-foot facility features a range of amenities, including pharmacy services, lab screening, chemotherapy and radiation treatment, diagnostic imaging, therapy services, and financial assistance navigation. Unique offerings such as MRI-Guided Radiation Therapy set the institute apart, providing targeted treatment with reduced side effects and shorter treatment durations. Patients were actively involved in the design process, ensuring a calming and patient-centered environment.
