In September 2020, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs chose a 28-acre North Jacksonville site for an outpatient clinic.
Now, that $64.2 million project at northwest Hyatt Road and Max Leggett Parkway leads the Jacksonville Daily Record and Record & Observer list of the Top Construction Projects of 2021 in Northeast Florida.
While health care claimed two of the Top 10, apartment construction dominated the list, with five projects totaling more than $212 million in investment and more than 1,900 units.
Those projects are among more than 43 apartment communities in development in Northeast Florida, according to the NAI Hallmark commercial real estate firm.
Jacksonville Daily Record and Record & Observer staff created the list of Top Construction projects and their values using research from city and county permits issued since Jan. 1.
Together, the area’s Top 10 projects total an investment of nearly $486 million.
The total is down from the 2020 figure of $654 million, which included the $156 million Fidelity National Information Services Inc. headquarters under development in Brooklyn.
