The Sage Memorial Hospital & Medical Office Building in Ganado, Arizona, is a new medical campus designed to address the healthcare needs of the remote Navajo Nation. Created in partnership with Hoefer Welker, the campus blends modern healthcare with cultural respect, incorporating Navajo principles of balance and unity. The hospital offers expanded services, including emergency care, surgery, labor and delivery, and advanced imaging, while the adjacent medical office building centralizes outpatient services like primary care, behavioral health, and dental care. To tackle staffing challenges, the campus includes on-site housing with flexible options and community-focused amenities. Thoughtfully designed to connect with the surrounding landscape and Navajo culture, the campus features east-facing entries, local artwork, and materials that harmonize with the environment. This project not only enhances healthcare access but also fosters a sense of community and holistic care for the region.
