CHI Trinity Health System is building a new 20,000 sq. ft. neighborhood hospital in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The hospital will help provide much-needed healthcare services to the communities in and around Belmont County. Hoefer Welker was chosen as the architect for this project through a design-build agreement and has been working with CHI Trinity Health System since day one.
The neighborhood hospital project has been in the works for over two years and is scheduled to be completed in January 2023. The two-story hospital will include a ten-bed emergency room, two operating rooms, six inpatient rooms for short-stay services, radiology and laboratory services, and a dedicated behavioral health exam room. The team is designing the hospital to support the current community needs and to allow for room to grow and expand services in the coming years.
Understanding that the neighborhood hospital will serve most lower acuity patients, the design requires less visual observation and more patient privacy. Hoefer Welker addresses this through decentralized nursing alcoves/windows to provide observation and future flexibility, inboard toilets to provide visual and acoustic privacy for patients, casework and footwall, floor drains and wallhung sinks.
The St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital will continue CHI Trinity Health System’s mission of caring for their communities and providing a choice for healthcare in the region.
