Serving the area’s more than 150,000 Veterans, the new VA Lenexa Community-Based Outpatient Clinic is a Veteran-centric facility with a relaxing healing environment, intuitive wayfinding, integrated technology, connections to nature, and a layout that promotes staff excellence and efficiency.
The clinic was designed to meet stringent VA Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) standards. Our clinical design strategy to meet these standards separated “onstage” public areas from “off-stage” staff work areas. Patients benefit from more privacy, a quieter environment, improved infection control, and safer hallways that are clear of equipment and other obstacles. Staff benefit from a more efficient layout, which helps them move quickly between patients and work areas — reducing fatigue, elevating productivity, and encouraging team collaboration.
Technology integration is designed to enhance the patient experience. Conveniently placed kiosks provide opportunities for private digital registration and help reduce patient wait times. Digital monitors provide directional signage, clinic information, and technology-enabled wayfinding, such as Blue Dot navigation systems — which provide real-time location and navigation cues.
