Written by Hoefer Welker | December 05, 2017

In partnership with the City of Gladstone, North Kansas City School District and Northwest Missouri State University helped pioneer the development of Northland Innovation Center, a new urban five-story facility designed to advance learning for students from kindergarten through post-secondary education – all under one roof.

With a vision to grow a highly skilled 21st-century workforce, NWMSU’s new Kansas City Campus features 12 classrooms with state-of-the-art technology and flexible furniture. The space was designed to give the satellite campus the feel of a university campus, provide a connection to the main campus, and take advantage of the top floor views. It offers seven undergraduate completion programs in recreation and wellness, elementary education, special education, early childhood development, computer sciences, business and marketing, and graduate programs in education and business.

The design and program increase transparency between faculty and students to embrace 21st-century innovative teaching methodology and learning styles. The building elements, such as walls, ceilings, and floors, are each an integral part of the learning process and create dynamic, active spaces. This casual, organic space reflects the life of undergraduate and graduate students who are earning degrees in primary education, allied health, and technology.
