Indiana University Health - West Lafayette Hospital

West Lafayette, part of one of Indiana’s fastest-growing regions, has grown for decades without a hospital of its own. Indiana University Health, the state’s largest healthcare system, is changing that by bringing the city its first full-service hospital. Scheduled to open in 2028, the hospital will include 12 inpatient beds, four operating rooms, an emergency department with 14 care spaces, a helipad, laboratory and pharmacy services, and comprehensive imaging that includes MRI, CT, X-ray, fluoroscopy, mammography, ultrasound and DEXA.

As a new hospital, the facility requires a complete medical equipment program rather than building on equipment already in place. Equipment for imaging, surgery, sterile processing, emergency care and inpatient services must be planned as part of the building itself. Major imaging and surgical systems can drive shielding, power, cooling, structural support and other infrastructure requirements. At the same time, equipment throughout the hospital must be coordinated with room layouts, utilities and clinical workflows as design and construction progress.

Hoefer Welker’s Clinical Technology Solutions team is working with IU Health and project architect ARC Design to plan and coordinate medical equipment throughout the hospital. CTS translates clinical and departmental requirements into detailed equipment plans, manages procurement to align selections with the project’s budget and schedule, supports the construction team through equipment and infrastructure coordination, and carries the scope through delivery and installation as spaces are completed.
