Indiana University Health New Downtown Hospital + Capitol View Outpatient MOB

Written by Hoefer Welker | September 01, 2026

Indiana University Health is reshaping its downtown Indianapolis academic health campus around a new flagship hospital and Capitol View, a medical office building supporting outpatient care. By consolidating major services and expanding specialty care on one campus, IU Health is creating a more integrated setting for advanced diagnostics, treatment and outpatient services.

Hoefer Welker is supporting a clinical technology program that spans hundreds of patient rooms, dozens of operating rooms and a broad range of diagnostic and treatment environments. The work includes some of the campus’s most specialized settings, from hybrid operating rooms and interventional imaging to intraoperative MRI, Gamma Knife, advanced laboratory and pharmacy systems. The team brings the technical expertise needed to understand how those technologies affect the spaces, infrastructure and construction around them, coordinating requirements as equipment selections and project conditions evolve.

That involvement continues through procurement, installation and operational validation, allowing the same technical understanding to carry forward as decisions become built conditions. Working with IU Health departments throughout the process also gives clinical teams the opportunity to validate that technology and room planning support how care will actually be delivered.
