This replacement hospital for CommonSpirit Health serves as a new 64-bed full-service healthcare campus in Ringgold, Georgia, replacing CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia. The facility expands access to high-quality care for North Georgia residents while supporting CommonSpirit’s strategy to modernize facilities, strengthen regional services, and reinvest in community-based healthcare.
Designed to unify inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services, the hospital emphasizes operational efficiency, patient experience, and future flexibility. The three-story facility includes a first-floor diagnostics and treatment platform with imaging, surgery, procedural suites, support services, and a café, with two inpatient floors above housing 64 beds. The critical care unit includes 8 dedicated ICU rooms and 7 adaptable spaces that convert to ICU beds as needed.
The project team approached the facility as more than a replacement hospital. The design serves as a replicable model for how rural health systems can strategically integrate technology and operational planning to improve care delivery without increasing staffing demands. Planning focused on addressing workforce shortages, enhancing patient experience, and enabling providers to care for more patients with the same staffing levels through intentional, scalable solutions.
The campus prioritizes patient comfort and efficient circulation through a welcoming lobby, outdoor courtyards, covered visitor entry, protected emergency access, and parking stalls along a loop drive. Landscaped connections to the adjacent physician office building, imaging center, and cancer center reinforce a cohesive healthcare environment while supporting long-term community growth and investment.
