Cedar Park Public Safety Training Facility

Written by Hoefer Welker | August 18, 2026

As Cedar Park grew, its public safety departments outgrew the spaces available for training. Officers practiced defensive tactics in cramped quarters and borrowed churches and schools for scenario training, while police, fire and emergency management had no permanent place to train together. The City partnered with our team to create a dedicated public safety training campus designed around the realities first responders face in the field.

The campus consolidates classroom instruction, physical training and hands-on simulation in one location. A reconfigurable tactical building uses modular walls, movable furnishings and varied stair conditions to support changing scenarios rather than a fixed environment personnel can memorize. Specialized spaces support defensive tactics, fitness and fire training, while shared classrooms and training areas let police, fire and emergency management practice coordinated responses.

The project also establishes Cedar Park's first dedicated Emergency Operations Center, giving multiple agencies a permanent home to coordinate during major incidents using live information, cameras, drone feeds and other resources. Police and fire have already used the campus for active-shooter training, practicing the transition from scene stabilization to emergency medical response.

Organized around the city's existing fire-training tower, which remained operational throughout construction, the campus was master planned to meet immediate needs while preserving room for future fire, tactical and apparatus training, an obstacle course and an indoor firing range.
