The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) has broken ground on a new clinic at 6401 Shallowford Road. The new clinic will replace the current clinic on Debra Road when it opens, tentatively in the spring of 2021.
At 75,000 square feet, the new clinic will be more than double the size of the existing VA outpatient clinic and will serve more than 25,000 veteran enrollees in Chattanooga and its surrounding counties.
The clinic will provide primary care, women veterans health care, mental health, audiology, physical medicine rehabilitation, dental, imaging (X-ray), and lab services.
“We’re excited to bring additional capacity and a new, larger facility to Chattanooga,” said TVHS Director Jennifer Vedral-Baron. “There is a big demand for the high-quality health care VA provides in the Chattanooga area, and we’ll be happy to better meet that demand.”
The clinic’s design is based on VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care. This veteran-centric model provides integrated care in a healing environment through the collaborative efforts of care teams consisting of physicians, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, pharmacists, and whole health coaches. Telehealth services will allow patients to receive specialty care consultation and remote diagnostics from highly qualified VA providers throughout the country. This technology-based care also serves patients in their homes or other clinic sites.
